The installation "Swarms of Concern" simulates an ecosystem of swarms that communicate their condition visually and aurally. It surrounds its audience with an immersive soundscape accompanied by a simplified visualization.
The exhibit detects the amount of human presence and transforms it into stress factors for the swarms it displays. It is inspired by the recently emerged Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) phenomenon - the mysterious mass disappearance of bee colonies all around the world, which is still not fully clarified.
The installation was made as final project for the course "The Ecosophic Turn" at the Concordia University, Montreal together with two fellow students. It was realized with Processing.
